A lot of clients who come to see me…
. . . struggle with some combination of dysregulation, anxiety, self-judgement, hopelessness, frustration, or exhaustion from trying so hard to heal, but still not getting where they want.
. . . feel like talk therapy, self-work, and other approaches are helpful, but haven’t gotten to the heart of what’s really holding them back.
. . . are tired of just getting by, or barely staying afloat.
. . . feel alone in their experience, like hardly anyone understands or “gets” what they’re dealing with.
. . . want to feel more comfortable being themselves, being in their body, and being with others.
. . . understand a lot about their patterns and past, but can’t seem to embody the change they want.
Are any of those things true for you, too?
These are all experiences I understand really well—not just from being a healing and helping professional for over 20 years, but because I’ve lived them myself. I know how confusing and painful living with the effects of early trauma and chronic dysregulation is, and how hard it can be to find a practitioner who gets what’s needed to heal.
SO HERE’S WHAT WE’LL DO IN OUR SESSIONS:
✦ We’ll HONOR the INTELLIGENCE of your body’s responses and make sense of them together…
✦ We’ll PRIORITIZE your nervous system’s need to feel SAFE, and help that need actually get met…
✦ We’ll give you the dependable ATTUNEMENT and CONNECTION you’ve been missing…
And ALL of that will create the conditions for YOUR unique healing to ORGANICALLY unfold.
The result is a deeper level of change and transformation that shifts your relationship with yourself and others, and that supports you to live, instead of just survive.
And while the details of what happens in each session vary, the foundation of our work will consistently integrate three primary approaches…
-
1) Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal Theory is a compassionate yet scientific framework that explains how your nervous system responds to stress and what it needs to heal and thrive. We’ll look at whatever you’re struggling with through a polyvagal lens so we can understand your experience on a deeper level and find your path toward more ease and aliveness. We’ll weave in digestible amounts of psychoeducation to provide context and grow compassion for why you feel the way you do, and simple practices to support you in shifting out of survival mode in real time. Perhaps most importantly, your nervous system will get to receive the kind of safe, dependable coregulation it needs for you to feel seen, heard, understood, and held—opening doors for change that simply aren’t possible when trying to heal all on your own.
-
2) Somatic Practice & Exploration
In each session, I’ll invite you to notice what’s happening in your body, help you connect with your felt-sense experience, and reflect and respond to what you share. This might sound simple, but it’s a huge part of how we let your nervous system lead the way, and also how you develop more skilled and benevolent attunement with your body, your nervous system, and yourself. We’ll take time to be together with whatever thoughts, sensations, and emotions come up. If dysregulation or overwhelm arises, we’ll use relational contact and embodied practices to be present with what’s happening and shift into a more connected and regulated state. All of this will help you build new neural pathways for finding and anchoring in safety, and give you embodied practice responding in new ways that counter and repattern traumatic conditioning.

3) Inner Relationship Focusing
Created by Barbara McGavin and Anne Weiser Cornell, Inner Relationship Focusing (IRF) is a somatic, relational style of parts work that supports emotional regulation, trauma healing, and a secure sense of self by helping you compassionately connect with “parts” of you in need of care and attention. IRF creates a safe container for us to welcome and attune to your thoughts, feelings, and nervous system responses—no matter how dyresgulated, overwhelming, confusing, or stuck they might feel—so that change and ease can happen. It’s a wonderfully gentle and effective approach for a variety of issues, and its relational focus also makes it uniquely supportive for healing from complex, developmental, and attachment trauma and stress.

As often and as long as it feels right, useful, and accessible for you. I don’t require clients to see me with any minimum frequency or duration, since different nervous systems and life circumstances truly make for different needs. At the same time, it’s important to understand that if you’re seeking to address longstanding patterns of trauma or dysregulation, that takes time and consistency. The important thing is that our work together feels meaningful and productive for you, and you’ll likely get a sense of that within a few sessions. Many clients choose to receive coaching with me on a long-term basis, and others return to me during stretches where they’re in need of extra support, so I’m happy to collaborate with you either way.

For the vast majority of clients, yes. I live on the East Coast of the US, and rarely have to turn someone away due to scheduling incompatibility.
-
No, I currently only see clients online.

Yes! I work with both coaching and non-coaching clients for the Safe & Sound Protocol, a powerful listening intervention that supports nervous system regulation and trauma healing at a deep physiological level. SSP is also outstanding at supporting the effectiveness of other modalities, so it can be a great complement to whatever else you’re already doing to heal. Read more here, reach out by email here, or fill out the SSP Interest Form to let me know you’re interested and want to chat.
