Let me explain: Trauma is an experience that begins in our body.

It happens when our nervous system experiences something as dangerous, unsafe, or deeply NOT OK, and we don’t have the resources inside or out to help our biology feel safe and ok again.

So our nervous system gets stuck in a state of survival

(keeping us anxious, hypervigilant, depressed, or dissociated), trying to protect us

until it feels that we are finally, truly SAFE.

Our body stays ready for danger, even when the present moment isn’t dangerous.

Until our body can register the feeling of “safe enough,” we’re unable to handle everyday stress without getting overwhelmed or shutting down.

Until our bodyNOT just our mindknows and feels safety is here, we can’t actually process , release, and integrate what happened in the past.

If you’ve tried talking about your trauma,

trying to figure out your trauma,

reading books to understand the root of your trauma,

processing your trauma,

releasing your trauma,

and STILL feel stuck,

your body may not have the support it needs for you to move forward.

So in order to heal,
our body needs to be SHOWN how to feel safe right here, right now.

You didn’t have the support and safety you needed when the trauma began.

But now, no matter what you’ve been through or what you’re struggling with,

you can cultivate the resource of safety within your body now,
and send your nervous system cues that it’s ok to settle

(when it actually is).

Through the mindful, skillful, compassionate use of simple somatic practices, you can teach your body to find and feel the safety it’s been missing.

And when your body feels safe—when your body is deeply RESOURCEDthat’s when deeper healing can happen.

That’s when processing and integration becomes possible.

That’s when therapy, coaching, and other support often become even more effective.

That’s when resilience (as opposed to just endurance) can actually be built ✨

Here’s what we’ll do together…

  • Understand how your body is a resource.

    Learn what embodied resources are, why resourcing is important, and how to use your body to regulate your nervous system anytime, anywhere.

  • Try out your new somatic tools.

    Discover and practice a variety of ways your movement, breath, touch, and other senses can support your body and brain to shift out of survival and toward safety you can actually feel.

  • Take a trauma-informed approach.

    Learn trauma-informed guiding principles to help ensure you use somatic practices safely and effectively, at the pace your unique nervous system needs.

  • Feel + find what works for you.

    Learn how to choose + modify practices to meet your body right where it is, and practice determining what tools are (and aren’t!) right for you.

6 weeks of 8 LIVE meetings on Zoom, with space for Q&A, discussion, and experiential practice. Feeling safe within the group is a priority, and you’re welcome to show up just as you are.

Can’t attend live? Want to review? Replays of all live sessions are available for one full year after we finish our last live class, and participating asynchronously is totally an option.

Over 20 stand-alone audio + video practices are included for you to download and keep, so you can listen or watch whenever you want to be guided through your new somatic tools.

For all I know about trauma and stress, I’m sure of one thing: our body will lead us back to health, wholeness, safety, and regulation if it’s given the right support. I designed Embodied Resource to support you in giving your biology more of what it needs to heal, through foundational principles and simple practices that nourish your nervous system and reconnect you with your body’s capacity for feeling safe, alive, and well.   • EMBODIED RESOURCE will meet live on Zoom for 6 Classes and 2 Connection + Integration Sessions (8 meetings total) over a period of 6 weeks.

    Classes are 90 minutes weekly on Tuesdays at 1pm EDT (US/Can). Connection + Integration Sessions are 60 minutes and will take place on two Thursdays (October 24th + November 7th) at 7pm EDT. Attending live isn’t a requirement; you’re welcome to participate asynchronously if your schedule or time zone requires (see the next question below).

  • It’s not a problem, not everyone can!

    I’ve designed the course to feel complete and cohesive even if you attend asynchronously (which many participants do!). Recordings will be available within 24 hours of the live class, and you can use our online class community on Circle to stay engaged and on-track. I’ll be checking in regularly with the group to see how it’s going, and available for any questions that come up along the way. If you still have concerns about not being able to attend all the classes live, reach out and let’s chat :)

  • I’m so glad you asked! I believe that making an offering trauma-informed requires at least three important elements, and they’re all woven into EMBODIED RESOURCE:

    Context: I’m not just going to teach you techniques without any rhyme or reason. Our nervous system likes to know “why,” so we’ll take the time to frame what we’re doing in a way that makes sense and feels relevant.

    Connection: We’ll be exploring resourcing together over a period of 6 weeks, which gives you a lot more opportunities to connect with the content, yourself, and the group than in a one-and-done class. Our online class community also provides an easy way to connect with myself and other participants outside of the live calls.

    Choice: Our nervous system needs to have choice in order to feel safe, so you’ll get lots of options for how to use the tools you’re learning so they meet you where you’re at. You also have a choice as to how you engage with the course—live calls, recordings, PDFs, and our online course community are all available, and lots of permission is given along the way for you to participate in ways that feel best for you. Cameras on or off, sharing your voice or staying quietly present, you'll be encouraged to come as you are, and supported to stretch your system a little when it feels safe enough!

  • It’s not. EMBODIED RESOURCE is experiential and exploratory in nature, and is intended solely for personal education and use. It doesn’t address clinical application, and doesn’t sufficiently equip you to safely and effectively use somatic tools with your clients. It will assist you in resourcing and regulating your own nervous system, which in my opinion is one of the best gifts we can give to the people we companion and serve. Many helping professionals have taken EMBODIED RESOURCE, and have said it's been incredibly supportive in helping them show up for their clients in a more regulated, embodied way.

  • I typically run Embodied Resource twice a year, so the next round will most likely be in Spring 2025. You can get on my mailing list to make sure you hear about it when it happens and to stay in the loop about other opportunities to learn with me in the meantime!

  • You may choose to join Embodied Resource with one payment in full, or with fee-free monthly payments over 3 or 6 months; the first/initial payment is made when you register for the course, and the subsequent payments will be charged to your credit card on that same date the following months (e.g. if you register on October 2nd, your card will be charged for the remaining payments on Nov. 2nd, Dec. 2nd, etc.).
